Personally I’m not really much for party scenes in general, which makes nights at Frimis, Strömpis, Stora Örebro, etc, during the OP weeks a bit less fun. I often wish there was a place, like Örebro Kårhus, that could offer things like fun quizzes, karaoke, and student discounts. What I, and many others, didn’t know is that Örebro Student Union has a collaboration with Kappa Bar. At Kappa Bar, you’ll find lots of different activities such as quizzes, karaoke, and crime nights! And thanks to Örebro Student Union, you can also get food and drinks at student prices.

Quiz:

Several times a month, Kappa Bar hosts quizzes ranging from general knowledge to questions for the most devoted How I Met Your Mother fans. Of course, there are prizes. When Lösnummer visited, everyone on the podium received bacon snacks, and the winner was also rewarded with a full evening in Kappa Bar’s VIP room.

Games:

Video games are scattered throughout the bar, but in the VIP room, you can play for free all night. On the Nintendo Switch, there are classics like Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros, and Mario Party. PlayStation offers a wider selection of racing, cooperative, and fighting games. The editorial team’s favorites were undoubtedly Mario Kart and Gang Beasts.

Food and Drinks:

Kappa Bar offers a wide variety of food and drinks, with special student prices. As a student, you can get a burger with fries and dip for 129 SEK. If burgers aren’t your thing, there’s also pizza, chicken tenders, hearty sandwiches, and desserts like churros and waffles. For drinks, there are classic soft drinks as well as tasty non-alcoholic cocktails like Mana Potion and Chemical Waste. For those with a sweet tooth, there are also milkshakes.

Karaoke:

Who doesn’t love belting out their favorite song? One of the advantages of karaoke at Kappa Bar is the VIP room door. You can close it, so you can sing loudly without embarrassing yourself in front of a bigger audience. The staff will help you get the system running, and then it’s as simple as using Spotify.

If you’re in the mood for a different kind of night out, filled with laughter, games, and singing, Kappa Bar is definitely worth a visit. Especially if clubs aren’t really your thing, if you want a change of pace, or just want to try something new.
